#5 – FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION

If you are a victim of identity theft, or feel that you might be at risk, you should fill out an Identity Theft Complaint with the FTC. You do this online by visiting identitytheft.gov, the federal agency’s consumer protection website. Be sure to print out a copy of your complaint to keep for your files. Or, you can file a complaint over the phone by calling 1-877-438-4338 (1-877-IDTHEFT) or TTY at 1-866-653-4261.
